Auto vs Preset

You shouldn’t leave your camera set to auto white balance permanently because it won’t always get it right. The camera will attempt to analyse the colours in the scene and ‘normalise’ them, but it can often fail to differentiate between the colour of the light and the intrinsic colours in the subject itself. In addition to this, it may attempt to compensate for atmospheric lighting conditions early or late in the day that are actually part of what you’re trying to record. Finally, where you do want to ‘normalise’ the colours, you’ll find that auto white balance systems usually fail to compensate for extremes of lighting, like the excessive warmth of domestic tungsten lighting or the pronounced ‘coldness’ of the light in deep shade. Indeed, you may find it better to choose your white balance settings manually to suit the conditions, because at least then you’ll know how the camera is going to respond.

Innovative Tutors

I would like to comment more about Score!’s effectiveness to guide my daughter of 4 in learning. I am just so excited about it as I have seen my girl advancing and progressing very quickly in her learning curve in Math and English since I sent her to Score! learning center 3 months back. I have seen from my eyes how Score! guides and taught my angel in the classes that they provide. Their program is innovative and nothing like the same old thing taught in typical schools. I can round it up that even Score!’s innovative tutor are competant and very dedicated to their profession of guiding and mentoring.

Quality issues

Although you can change the white balance of your images later in your imageeditor it’s not necessarily the best time to do it. If you save your images as JPEG fi les when you shoot, the camera processes the sensor information before saving the fi le, and this processing includes white balance adjustment – the camera applies whatever white balance value is currently set. If you then go on to alter the colour balance on your computer, you are in effect processing the image a second time, which introduces a degree of quality loss.

It’s best to do one of two things: either (a) choose the correct white balance setting at the time of shooting or (b) shoot RAW (unprocessed) fi les and process them on your computer, choosing the white balance setting at that point.

PPP Direct Launches

If you are running your own business, you would understand that middleman’s the problem with high prices and usually the cause of price jacking of a product or a service. If we can phase out the middleman, won’t life be easier to the manufacturor, vendor and the buyer?

This case is the same with PayPerPost. I am sure by now everybody have heard about them. If not, I would have to explain again. Lolx. PayPerPost is a program where advertisers require publishers to review their site or have a small writeup about a topic related to their site. In return, they would pay a fee where the publishers would get a portion of it for their service. It just just like the advertisers are hire bloggers to do post about their site.

Now, just think about it. what if there is a middleman between you and the advertiser where they are gaining 50% of the transaction fees? The advertiser is paying $10 for the request of service, and in the end, after you have finished the review, you only get $5? Would that sound fair to you?

PPP Direct is here to ensure that this does not happen. They have given the commitment to charge the advertiser a mere 10% as opposed to other programs such as ReviewMe that charges 50% to even 100% of the amount paid by the advertiser. This means that there is potential where a post did by a publisher for $10 could cost the advertiser $20! Out of the 10% the PayPerPost charges, almost 5% goes to PayPal and Credit Card fees.

What’s gamut?

A device’s ‘gamut’ describes the complete range of colours it can produce or record, and this is related to the colour space. Although the sRGB colour space is the most common in digital photography, there’s a ‘wider’ colour space called Adobe RGB. This is useful where images are destined for printing in magazines and books, where the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) printing inks produce a different and, in some areas of the spectrum, a wider set of colours. The expanded gamut of Adobe RGB can increase the range of printable colours in these circumstances. More sophisticated digital cameras, mostly digital SLRs, can record images using the Adobe RGB mode. However, this isn’t recommended for most photographers since the results can look rather fl at and lifeless with ordinary monitors and printers.

Dyslexia is a distinct learning disability characterized by difficulties in decoding individual words. These difficulties may not show up in other cognitive and academic abilities. Dyslexia results from the confusion caused by the brain’s inability to associate abstract symbols with abstract ideas. This includes associating letters and words with the sounds they represent. The key to defeating dyslexia is learning to decode English sounds.

You are invited to review the website and take a few of the courses for practice and learn how the program works. Then use it to teach your children or students to read. It can be used for preschool, home school, grade school, or high school. Students, adults, and children can use it. It teaches reading 100% of the time and it’s all electronic. If you know of people who need help, please tell them about ReadingBySix: www.dyslexiadecoded.com/

Henson’s Creature Shop closes doors in London

The Jim Henson Company has announced that it’s shutting the London studio of its Creature Shop visual-effects and animatronics business, with the loss of more than 20 jobs. The offices in Los Angeles and New York will remain, and Henson says it will hire freelance crews in London for projects as they arise. Behind the pull-out is an unfavourable exchange rate and the absence of concrete tax incentives, according to Henson president and CEO, Peter Schube.

Recently, the Creature Shop has provided characters and effects for the Five Children and It film, starring Eddie Izzard, and the Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars (pictured above) sci-fi TV show.

Summer Camps

I am sure by now you have heard about how great Score! Learning center is. Score is a specialized learning center for kids from age 4 to 14 where parents (like myself) send their children to encourage them to love learning. It had been superly successful for my daughter, now 4, proven after she has finished the maths and English class. I would now be sending her to the summer camp organized by Score. I would have no worries as Score has always been showing me how dedicated they are in protecting at the same time ensuring that my daughter learns fast and well. Way to go, Score!

Why Approximately?

The “world” real rate is a fictitious rate, thought to be determined by activity in a few large, stable financial markets such as those in the United States, Germany, Great Britain, and Japan. For expositional convenience, however, we consider the world real rate to be the rate prevailing in the United States, keeping in mind that the U.S. real rate can in reality be affected by financial activity in these other large countries. The forces described in our Canadian example come about because the Canadian financial market is quite small relative to the U.S. market. If the Canadian and other small markets were microcosms of the U.S. market, the rate prevailing in the U.S. market would undoubtedly also prevail in these smaller markets. They are not exactly the same as the U.S. market, however, if for no other reason than that they are located in another country, with bonds denominated in another currency. The U.S. market sets a standard, not just in terms of a numerical rate, but also in terms of the institutional structure associated with its financial transactions. Investing in a U.S. bond carries with it an implicit degree of riskiness, associated with the political stability, market liquidity, degree of business risk, and legal system characterizing the United States. The implicit degree of riskiness associated with, say, Canadian bonds, may be greater than with U.S. bonds (because of uncertainty caused by the possibility of Quebec separation or by the large size of the Canadian national debt), implying that the real rate in Canada must incorporate a risk premium and therefore be higher than in the United States to compensate for the difference in risk.

A major dimension of the risk factor is the possibility of changes in currency values, and for this reason the risk premium is sometimes called a currency premium. A U.S. investor buying Canadian bonds, for example, will be paid Canadian dollars when the bond matures, so the investor is running the risk that the value of the Canadian dollar may be lower at maturity than it was when he or she bought the bonds. Offsetting this danger is the possibility that the value of the Canadian dollar may be higher, but the point is that there is a risk. An investor will accept this risk only if a higher real rate of return is offered. An investor can purchase insurance to protect against this type of risk (this is called hedging), but at a cost that is of course higher, the higher is the risk. To cover this cost, the real interest rate on the Canadian bond must be higher to make it comparable to U.S. bonds in the eyes of U.S. investors.
